I apologise in advance for the length of this post, but everywhere we went was photo-worthy!
I’d previously been to Bali and stayed in the super touristy area of Nusa Dua for a work trip, and even though I only had limited chances to travel to Seminyak and Ubud, I was hooked!
This time around, I travelled with my boyfriend Tyler, who’s been to Bali four times and raves about the food. So, being big eaters, this naturally turned into a foodie holiday. Weeks prior to the trip, we’d mapped out our itinerary based on breakfast, lunch and dinner restaurants. We booked most of them online a week ahead of time and basically ate our way around Seminyak. My favourites included Sarong, Mera Putih, Mamasan, Petitenget, and Metis, just to name a few!
We stayed at a few different resorts and villas in Seminyak and Ubud, which were all amazing in their own rights.
Royal Samaja is about a block behind Seminyak Square and offers traditional Balinese-style accommodation with a five-star twist. Private pool, a 24hr butler service and super friendly staff made it very easy to relax into our first three nights in Bali.
i-Villa is across the road from one of Bali’s most famous restaurants, Sarong, and was so stunning we didn’t want to leave. The villa itself is spacious and modern while still offering that tropical vibe.
Kayumanis Ubud offered that extra relaxation by taking us away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was the perfect combination of resort and villa living.
Alila was the final stop and was a surprising favourite. Coming from staying at private villas with our own pool, checking into a beachfront hotel room seemed like a bit of an anti-climax at first. We immediately regretted not cancelling our stay here and go back to i-Villa instead. But I must say, this ended up being my favourite of all the places we stayed, simply because of the infinity pool and beach bar, which both look onto the beach. The hotel has three pools, so while there seemed to be a lot of thoroughfare in the lobby, the main pool was quite empty most of the time and allowed us to chill and have poolside cocktails without a crowd.
